Lifeline

Nationwide 24/7 free counselling phone line run by volunteers with training in counselling (call 0800 543 354)

 

Conception
Fertility NZ (Hamilton)

Support groups, support and advocacy for people experiencing fertility issues

 

Te Puawai Tapu

Kaupapa Maori organisation that specialises in sexual health and fertility based in Wellington (but they give advice over the phone/email)

 

Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond 

Pregnancy Counselling

Free 24/7 phone service for pregnancy worries (call 0800 773 462), emotional and practical support, post-abortion counselling, help with accommodation, education, legal and medical matters etc

 

SANDS (Waikato)

Free support meetings, phone and internet support for families who have lost a baby during pregnancy, birth or as an infant

 

Voice for Parents ($)

Support and services for parents struggling to come to terms with birth trauma

Can travel Waikato-wide

 

CYFS Waikato (Child, Youth & Family)

Care and protection services for children (in cases of abuse), counselling for adoptive and birth parents, community education

 

Fetal Alcohol Community Trust

Support and education about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, referrals for diagnosis of infants in the North Island, advocacy for families of children with FAS

 

Anglican Action

Support groups for both men and women, housing for pregnant women and/or women with babies under 12 months, employment advice and support etc

 

Young Parents and One-Parent Families 

House of Grace Hamilton

Free maternity housing and support for pregnant girls/women aged 12-23 including education/schooling, parenting and life skills

 

Single Parent Services (Hamilton-based, part of Birthright Waikato)

Counselling for parenting, grief, major life decisions, separation/divorce, anxiety and depression; social work; group activities

 

Specialised Care 

Child Cancer Foundation Waikato

Free support and assistance for families of children with cancer including introductory kits with information and helpful items, help with transport and accommodation, financial assistance, etc

 

Parents of Vision Impaired

Information, advocacy and support for families with vision impaired children, networking between families, etc

 

True Colours (Waikato-wide)

Free counselling, nursing care and education for seriously ill children and their families/whanau, therapy, in-home support or at hospital or True Colours, bereavement support, 24/7 service available when required

 

Family Violence 

Women's Refuge

Waikato-wide 24/7 crisis service (call 07 855 1569)

Residential services, safe houses, transition houses, advocacy, etc

 

HAIP (Hamilton Abuse Intervention Project)
